DESIGN BLOG: CORAL KINGDOM!
Q: SO – CORAL KINGDOM. IS THE ‘ATLANTIS’ TYPE THEME ONE YOU’VE WANTED TO DO FOR A WHILE?
Sparkaro: Yup! I like the idea of a magical underwater kingdom, and I enjoy seeing depictions of Atlantis in various films and TV shows. I’ve been wanting to work on an underwater theme like this for a while, including loads of cute and colourful underwater creatures and plants.
MrCroissant: It’s always fun to work on campaigns that are based on fantasy rather than reality. Also, the furni line being based on Atlantis and underwater meant we could push things a little more, design-wise. There is a lot of elegant and even alien-like stuff under the sea, so I hope we were able to convey some of that in this line.
Kukuyit: It was a tough theme to tackle because we didn’t want the line to fall too much into the standardised feminine and mermaid style. After doing concepts and reworking designs, we went with a more organic looking style with seashells as complimentary decorations. We hope this design will be appealing to all genders and… fish?!
Q: ANY NEW OR INTERESTING TECHNICAL CHALLENGES YOU CAME UP AGAINST?
Sparkaro: The crackable treasure chests presented a new technical challenge this time around because they are a new type of crackable that give out a pack of multiple items instead of just one. I worked together with the developers to get this feature working properly.
MrCroissant: The Seahorse LTD rare was the most challenging thing I worked on, mainly due to its animation set up. I wanted to make sure it was sittable too. After all, who wouldn’t want to ride a massive magical seahorse?
Kukuyit: FX are generally longer and more technical to do, but we really liked the idea of turtle transportation so we made an active decision to get this one in the bag.
Q: WHAT DO YOU THINK HABBOS ARE GOING TO LOVE THE MOST IN CORAL KINGDOM?
Sparkaro: I think they’ll enjoy riding around on sea turtles!
MrCroissant: I can see Habbos loving the ridable Turtle Furni and Effect the most. It’s so cool.
Kukuyit: I think the blue twinkling sand (this twinkling can be switched off – it’s a switch state furni) is a very versatile floor tile. I can imagine Habbos will be reusing this one to maybe created a night beach scene that’s not underwater.
LET’S SEE A DIVING CONTRAPTION YOU WOULD DESIGN AND BUILD FOR EXPLORING THE CORAL KINGDOM!
Sparkaro: Dolphins. Every time.
Kukuyit: I like my transportation soft, calm and squishy so I choose seaweed axolotl!
